22+ Adult High School Diploma Program Has First Graduate
DAYTON, OH. - Sept. 29, 2015. The 22+ Adult High School Diploma Program affords adults the ability to earn their high school diploma. The program is free to adults who are over 22 years old, living in Ohio and do not have a diploma or a GED.
The 22+ Adult High School Diploma Program is available at educational approved institutions throughout the state of Ohio. Students must meet the graduation requirements from the time of entry in 9th grade (i.e. earn required number of credits; pass OGT/proficiency, etc.) and complete the program in a maximum of 2 consecutive years. There is no minimum number of High School credits required but there is limit of 2 consecutive years for a student to earn credits.
Counselors at Career Prep of Dayton work with the adult learners to develop individual plans to identify the courses and assessments needed to graduate and earn a diploma. Instructional dates and times are designed to meet the needs of adult learners.
There are currently 15 adult learners enrolled at Career Prep High School’s Adult Diploma Program. 14 of those students have earned at least a half credit in only 30 days. Another new group of adult learners will begin orientation on October 9th with classes starting on October 12th.
Ms. Kenesha Booze, Coordinator of School Improvement at Career Prep of Dayton said, “the first graduate, Brent Chadwell, age 38 only needed a half of a credit in U.S. Government to achieve his high school diploma.” Booze said, “When he found out the program was available, Mr. Chadwell drove from Columbus to complete the course.” Upon graduation, Mr. Chadwell said, “I feel wonderful to finally earn my diploma. After twenty years of not having one, I feel accomplished in something that is rewarding. I’m ready to close that chapter of my past and seek further education.”
The program in Dayton is at 1721 N. Main Street, the hours are Monday-Friday 4:20 P.M. – 6:20 P.M. which are convenient for working adults.
